This page is to define often used nautical terms. I will try and update on an as needed basis.

• Brightwork - a nautical term for woodwork with a wide variety of finishes on it. One of the most common woods is teak. Many well written books are found covering maintenance of wood found on and in a boat.
• Fender - a bumper used in boating to keep boats from banging into or chafing against docks or other objects. These are usually air or foam filled and and easily able to be moved to different locations as needed.
